Context: This book was from the public library in Cape Girardeau, which they were going to throw away.

At this point in my life I kept having people come into my life, give me gifts, and then end up betraying my trust, and friendship, or otherwise negatively impacting the relationship where it could not continue. I compiled “gifts” that were given to me by a couple of people. I have a hard time getting rid of things so I decided to make this sculpture with discarded things that I no longer wanted just like the library getting rid of the book. I blacked out most of the book but left some words showing that I felt reflected the relationships I was moving on from in my life that led to me making this sculpture.
